5vom Volk gewählt worden war zum General für die Flotte, ist aus-
6gesegelt mit den Schiffen, die das Volk 〚zusammen mit König Demetrios〛
7nach Asien entsandt hat, und nahm gemeinsam die ganze Zeit
8am Krieg in Zypern teil und nahm Hagnon aus Teos und die
9Schiffe unter dessen Kommando gefangen; und unter dem Archon Praxiboulos (315/4),
10als Glauketes Kythnos genommen hatte und von da aus
11Schiffe kaperte, nahm er die Stadt ein und Glauketes
12selbst und die Schiffe unter dessen Kommando, und brachte
13so Sicherheit den zur See Fahrenden; und als
14Kassander Oreos belagerte, wurde er als General
15über die Schiffe der Stadt entsandt und setzte sich
16für die auf seinen Schiffen segelnden Bürger ein, so dass
17als einzige der Bundesgenossen nur die Athener
18nicht verpflichtet waren zu Tätigkeiten für die Belagerung. – Und
19(da) Phaidros selbst dieselbe Gesinnung hat wie seine
20Vorfahren und stets sich als würdig erwiesen hat des
21Wohlwollens gegenüber dem Volk; er auch, unter dem Archon
22Nikias (296/5) von dem Volk zum General für die Kriegsrüstung
23zweimal gewählt, für alles, was (sein Amt) betraf, Sorge getragen hat
24in guter und ehrgeiziger Weise; er auch, (zum General) für das
25Umland mehrfach, für die Söldner dreimal gewählt,
26allen Eifer an den Tag legte, damit die Soldaten,
27auf das beste ausgerüstet, dem Volk Dienste
28erwiesen; er auch eine Gesandtschaft zu dem König
29Ptolemaios den Älteren unternahm und dem Volk Getreide
30und Geld verschaffte; er auch, vom Volk gewählt zum

64durch den Rat und das Volk; – Damit nun
65auch das Volk in öffentlicher Weise die guten und
66des Gedenkens würdigen Männer ehrt, zu Glück und Heil! wolle
67beschliessen der Rat: dass die Vorsitzenden, die erlost sein
68werden zum Vorsitz in der Volksversammlung, sobald die gesetzlich
69vorgeschriebenen Tage verstrichen sind, hierüber verhandeln lassen

92Lysandros S.d. Lysiades aus dem Demos Anaphlystos stellte den Antrag: zu
93Glück und Heil!, es wolle beschliessen das Volk: das Übrige,
94was das Privileg betrifft, das Phaidros erbeten hat,
95alles zu machen gemäß dem früheren Beschluss, den Lysandros
96beantragt hat, (und zusätzlich): dass die Thesmotheten für ihn die Prüfung
97des Privilegs einleiten bei dem Gericht
98gemäß dem Gesetz. – Für die Aufstellung des
99Standbildes wurden folgende gewählt: Thymochares

25several times, and being (general) of the mercenaries three times,
26he exerted himself to the full, so that the soldiers were
27fitted out as well as possible and able to fulfil the needs
28of the People; and when he went as ambassador to the elder
29king Ptolemy he brought back grain and money
30for the People; and when elected by the People
31hoplite general for the year of the archonship of Kimon
32he continued to strive for the common preservation,

34guarded the peace in the countryside always revealing himself in the best

71People, that it seems good to the Council to praise Phaidros
72son of Thymochares of Sphettos and crown him
73with a gold crown according to the law for the excellence
74and good will that he continues to have for the Athenian
75People; and to proclaim the crown at
76the new tragedy competition of the Great
77Dionysia and at the athletic contest of the Great
78Panathenaia; and the administrator shall
79manage the making of the crown and the
80announcement; and the People shall stand a bronze
81statue of him in the Agora, and he and the eldest of his descendants
82at the time shall have have meals in the
83city hall, and he shall have a front row seat at all the competitions
84that the city puts on; and the People shall elect
85forthwith three men from the Athenians who
86will manage both the making of the statue
87and its erection; and the the prytany secretary
88shall inscribe this decree on a
89stone stele and stand it next to the statue;
90and for the inscription of the stele the
91administrator shall allocate the expenditure accrued.
II
92Lyandros son of Lysiades of Anaphlystos proposed: for good
93fortune, the People shall decide: to do all the
94other things concerning the award that Phaidros
95has requested according to the earlier decree that Lyandros
96proposed, and that the court presidents shall submit for him
97the scrutiny of the award to the court
98according to the law.         For the erection of the
99statue the following were elected: Thymochares
